About XtoThreads

How does it work?

We need a file from your X (Twitter) that you can request that contains ids of the accounts you follow.

This file is called

following.js

The contents of this file looks like this:

[
{
"following" : {
"accountId" : "813286",
"userLink" : "https://twitter.com/intent/user?user_id=813286"
}
},
{
"following" : {
"accountId" : "155659213",
"userLink" : "https://twitter.com/intent/user?user_id=155659213"
}
}
]

Who you follow is all you need to send us (it is not particularly private information). You can send us your entire zip file and we will extract this file from it.

X (Twitter) does not provide the names of the accounts you follow but we can build up a database of these before working out which of these accounts are also available on Threads

The more of these numbers that our visitors upload, the more we can investigate what user they represent before trying to find them on Threads.

Many Threads users do have different account names than they have on X (Twitter) - sometimes the differences are subtle and sometimes they are completely different. Sometimes someone else has that account so there is quite some work in mapping accounts.

We will be focusing on the most popular accounts first and we will never be able to map many accounts but we hope to give you a good start in building up your Threads account.
