X (Twitter) to Threads
Follow on Threads the same accounts you follow on X (Twitter)
Uses your twitter data without needing permission to your X (Twitter) account
We do not need permission or try to post to your X (Twitter) account. We just use a list of numbers that represent accounts you follow.
This website is in no way affiliated with X (Twitter) or Threads.
There are lots of other approaches to do this that no longer work. That is because they use the X (Twitter) API that is now been made restricted or just too costly to use. An API is an interface that allows third parties to talk to other systems.
This approach works because it doesn’t use the X (Twitter) api and it doesn’t post on your account. It uses data that you can easily request from X (Twitter) for you. Part of this data contains a file called “following.js”. Annoyingly it just has a list of numbers that represent accounts you follow on X (Twitter) and a link back where you can find out who they are.
It doesn’t have their account names. Simply put, X (Twitter) does not make it easy to get a list of account names you follow but we’ve been building up a list of which numbers represent which accounts on other platforms, such as Threads and Instagram.
We’re working on this database all the time. The more users upload the ids they are following, the better our database becomes. Also more and more people are joining other platforms like Threads so it is always evolving.
Step 1: Request your data from X (Twitter)
Click here for a direct link or browse to this section in X (Twitter):
Go to Profile / Your Account / Download an archive of your data
Here you can select Request Archive
Step 2: Upload following.js
When they have given you a zip file containing your data, either upload the following.js file contained within it or if you upload the zip archive file, we will extract that file from it.
We will show you a list of accounts you follow and any we have found on other platforms. You can select which ones you want to follow elsewhere.
Uploading any part of your archive doesn't give us any permissions to your X (Twitter) account. Unlike other approaches, we can't and won’t automatically follow anyone for you or send any messages from your account.
